History:
Nursing Department training, which until 2018 only included undergraduate courses, was expanded and currently include a MSc. program in pediatric nursing. Thus, in September 2018, the MSc. program in pediatric nursing was established in the department with admission of 5 students (once a year).
Perspective:
Up to 2026, the Department of Pediatric Nursing, Psychiatry and Health, through qualitative improvement in the field of clinical education and theoretical and research educational innovations for undergraduate and postgraduate students and increasing its manpower, seeks to be one of the distinguished departments in promoting children's health at the national level, and to become one of the centers of nursing care for children and infants in the country.
Mission:
1) Quantitative and qualitative empowerment of the department’s members in supporting the seven tasks of the faculty members;
2) Quantitative and qualitative improvement of clinical and theoretical education;
3) Promoting the quantity and quality of professors’ and students’ research;
4) Quantitative and qualitative improvement of resources and infrastructures; and
5) Expansion of national and international activities of faculty members.
Research priorities:
1) Management and policymaking for promoting the physical and mental health of children and adolescents in the community;
2) Promoting the health of children and families, as well as nurses in pediatric and neonatal wards in recurrent diseases, emerging diseases and health crises (including the COVID- 19 pandemic)
3) Prevention, screening, rehabilitation and promotion of physical, mental, social and spiritual health in vulnerable children such as working and street children, orphans and neglected children;
4) Innovation in child psychiatric care programs and the application of creative techniques including art therapy, play therapy and storytelling;
5) Prevention and correction of risky behaviors in children and adolescents; and
6) Application of new creative and effective educational methods in practical and theoretical courses of pediatric nursing, psychiatric nursing and community health nursing
