The Department of Midwifery was established since 1986 and started to work by admitting 80 students of the associate of science in midwifery program. Bachelor's degree was launched in 2006, discontinuous bachelor's degree in 2009 and master's degree in 2022.

With regard to the increasing promotion of midwifery services standards, the department seeks to train capable professionals in order to meet the needs of society, based on care, education, research, counseling, diagnosis, prevention and management.

1) Training capable midwives who are able to produce and disseminate knowledge in order to improve the quality of maternal, children and family health and to provide a solid foundation across Iran;

2) Seeking out international recognition and providing specialized services in the fields of health, education, research and consulting based on educational standards.

1) The status and quality of pre-pregnancy, pregnancy and postpartum care and methods of their improvement;

2) The mental health status of couples during pregnancy and after childbirth;

3) Frequency of potentially high-risk and high-risk pregnancies;

1) Preparing for childbirth;

2) Promoting physiological childbirth;

3) The role of childbirth preparation classes in selecting delivery method;

1) Reviewing and improving the quality of midwifery services for women and infants;

2) Providing solutions to improve midwifery management in health centers;

1) Reproductive health in physical disabilities and spinal cord injuries;

2) Underlying diseases (diabetes, hypertension, cardiovascular disease, etc.) and peri- and postpartal complications; and

3) Anemia in pregnancy and related factors.
